| What is the biggest secret in precision grinding? |

|
For more than 40 years I have lived and worked in the world of
abrasives and grinding. My job is to improve your productivity
through both application technology and state-of-the-art products.
I have done this for everybody from NASA to the one man shop! The
biggest secret in precision grinding is in the conditioning
and dressing of wheels. Most people were never told or shown
how to do this or why!
When dressing a conventional grinding wheel, there is a tendency
to infeed the diamond tool .002” or more. This causes the bond to
instantly crush! The result is that the grits loosen in a few minutes
and fall out. The larger cavity (where the grits were) then catches and
fills up with the steel swarf. This is called loading, and the result is
lower production and poorer finish. And so the wheel gets dressed
(again the wrong way) and the cycle continues! Sound familiar?
Are these "techniques" secret or do people just need to learn?
We are here to help - there are no "dumb" questions - just "dumb"
answers but we try to avoid those! Do phone, fax, or write for
the following Tech Briefs at no charge or obligation.
